In fact Alan lent his 1 st prototype to his son Oliver for some 'serious' summer bagging and couldn't get it back. So we built him another! Built on the same high-spec mandrel as the Acolyte Pro, but using different carbons and resins to make an even more durable pole with increased section strength. Although we would never claim any pole to be indestructible, the Acolyte Pro Carp is extremely strong and powerful and easily capable of withstanding the rigors of repeatedly catching bags of hard-fighting carp.  At the same time this new Acolyte Pro Carp is lighter than the original, (noticeably) better balanced and more responsive - especially at the longer 14.5 and 16m lengths. Despite its strength advantage over the Acolyte Pro, the Acolyte Pro Carp remains stiff enough to react to bites quickly and performs exceptionally well, even with a pole-mounted pot on the end and a short line between the pole tip and float. It has a noticeably faster reaction when compared to the original Acolyte Carp. The main sections from the butts back up to the No. 5 are built on new mandrels and so different to the original but, importantly, the No. 4 and No. 3 sections are the same size – albeit in different materials – and so interchangeable with the original. All male & female joints are reinforced to help reduce wear and prolong pole life. All of the new Acolyte Pro Carp kits now use a new No1 & No2 configuration with a larger 4.7mm internal diameter tip section. This means every kit is ready to fish without any cutting back at all with elastics right up to and including our own Red Bungee. It is supplied with a variety of extra 'East-Fit' pure PTFE Bungee bushes which all fit into the same 4.7mm uncut top section. However, each has its own internal hole size perfectly matched to the relevant sized Bungee with each identified by a small colored collar matching the Bungee. Internal bush diameters are: 2.0mm Aqua, 2.3mm Green, 2.6mm Yellow, 3.2mm Pink, 3.5mm Red.  Each PTFE bush has a series of tiny 'crush ribs' at the end which means that they will simply push-fit very securely without any need for glue. Therefore you can keep your top kits all at the same length no matter what diameter of elastic is used.  Along with a selection of Skid Bungs, EVA nose cones, pole pot, sets of different sized color coded PTFE bushes and a handy Visi Case, each top kit again comes with factory fitted Side Pull Slots and Drennan's Roller Cone accessories!  The white 'Side Pull Slots' are made from a super-slick PTFE material. Their elongated shape is designed to soften the angle of pull and works more efficiently than a simple round hole. When the optional Roller Cone system is fitted, this improves the performance of the PTFE slot even further.  The clever Roller Cone device has been designed and engineered to the highest standards. The cone itself is molded to fit neatly up against the Side Pull Slot for perfect alignment and to maintain its secure position inside the pole section. Its roller wheel is machined so it has an ultra smooth surface and is mounted on a miniature stainless steel spindle, which has again been machined in the Drennan engineering workshops. The end result is a build quality that is ultra smooth and trouble free!  The pole is available in three lengths: 13.0, 14.5 and 16.0m and with an exceptional spares package, including a total of six Carp Top 2s, an extra-rigid Cupping Top 2 and a pair of reversible mini extensions which fit the No5 section back to the 16m butt section. Two are supplied as standard in the Acolyte Carp pole's six-kit package. It is approximately the same 2.89m length as a standard two-piece Drennan top kit (including A Kits, Carp Kits and E Kits) but there is another joint in the middle of the No2 section.  The clever addition of this extra joint allows you to be able to elasticate one and a half sections of the pole rather than just the No1 (type) or the combined No1 and No2 sections. It is a great idea for anglers who don't want to fit quite so much elastic in their pole. It also provides you with a slightly shorter top kit for more maneuverability – something particularly useful for shallow fishing, speed fishing or some margin fishing applications.  Importantly, unlike many other poles on the market that offer a 'short kit' option, a big advantage of Drennan's 'Double 2' system is the fact that you are not losing any fishable pole length when this type of kit is fitted. That means you can use a conventional Drennan top two kit and a Double 2 Kit for the same swim without having to add or subtract sections or use cupping kits of different lengths. Also, when packing away, you can leave both parts of the No2 section assembled, fold the kit in half and it will conveniently be the same size as the normal Carp Kits, making everything really simple.  The top half of the take-apart No2 section is reinforced and fitted with Drennan's latest PTFE Side Pull System. This means you can have all of the advantages of Drennan's super-smooth side puller system on a shorter setup.  As with Drennan's standard Side Pull Kits, the Double 2 Side Pull Kit comes with an optional Roller Cone. Again these have been precision machined to the highest specifications and, once fitted, offer super-smooth elastic travel for even greater fish playing performance.  Side Pull Beads Designed in conjunction with the new Drennan Side Pull System, a Side Pull Bead allows you to locate and grab the elastic where it leaves the Side Pull Slot with minimum fuss. The bead's exterior is ribbed for enhanced grip while the bore safely houses the elastic knot to create a very neat setup.  Alternatively, the bead can also be used as a very useful elastic tensioning aid. By simply pulling some elastic through the bead and allowing it to grip the elastic at the desired position you can tighten the elastic or cure any elastic 'droop' in seconds. Made from toughened thermoplastic rubber they are also color-coded to match our popular grades of Carp Bungee hollow elastic. The bead's bore diameter also increases in size to compliment each grade of elastic.  A set of four color-coded Side Pull Beads are supplied with each Side Pull Kit.
