he new Long Chuck main line has been designed specifically for fishing at long range and will add extra yards to your cast compared to a standard mono. It is ultra-low stretch to enable quicker compression of the rod blank, and alongside the fact that it has very low water absorption, it also helps when trying to feel the lead down at range or in a cross wind. That low water absorption also helps ensure that the line stays lightweight and stays in the air for longer, thus helping to lower the drag on the lead during flight, but the biggest factor in achieving that is the fact that the line is clear – adding a dye to a mono line increases the weight, as well as altering the molecular structure and creating more stretch, all of which means that colored lines won't cast as far. Long Chuck also features a high breaking strain to diameter ratio, which significantly reduces both the drag and the weight of the line, compared to an equivalent breaking strain – 10lb is 0.27mm; 12lb is 0.30mm; 15lb and 0.33mm; and 20lb is 0.40mm. It is supplied on 1,000m spools. The triple core technology in Technium mono has always made this one of the best lines on the market but new Japanese technologies have made it not only thinner but stronger!! A triple core construction not only provides excellent strength but reduces the stretch of the line as the center layer is solid, most mono's stretch 25%+, Technium around 12%! This not only vastly increases casting distance, it makes bite detection much sharper without the fear of fish loss. The solid center gives this line its excellent sinking properties. The 2nd layer gives the line its suppleness, which is apparent the second you take it off the spool. From the first cast the lack of memory makes reaching great distances effortless, the lack of coiling again only aids bite detection. A final ultra thin layer of UV protection is applied, this gives the line its silky smooth finish, again aiding casting and ensuring the lines longevity, something Shimano are synonymous with within the reel industry.
