The 11ft (3.35m) length is the perfect all-round choice for ease of both casting and playing fish on a wide variety of venues. The rod has more power than the 11ft Ultra Feeder, which makes it an ideal choice for quality fish like bream, tench, chub, carp and F1s. However, the smooth, parabolic playing action still copes really well when reeling in smaller silverfish. The slim, crisp and responsive blank cuts through the air and offers optimum casting accuracy. The cast is further enhanced by stand-off SiC guides that are deliberately spaced to help the line travel through them as smoothly as possible. This rod is ideal when matched to feeders up to 60g (2oz) and will easily cope with ranges up to 50 meters. Greater distances are achievable with sensibly balanced tackle and a good casting technique. The 11ft Plus comes with three push-in carbon tips of 2oz, 2.5oz and 3oz. These super-slim tips have been designed to blend perfectly with the rod blank. The rod can be neatly folded away into two sections, so it can be carried to the bankside in a Rod Sleeve or Rod Case and assembled in seconds. Like other Ultra/Plus models in the Acolyte range, the Plus 9ft Feeder is a stepped-up version of the Ultra 9ft model but remains super slim and lightweight. The design was refined through stages of prototypes and months of field testing. At 2.74m the Plus 9ft Feeder has an average weight of just 4½ oz (120g) and is perfect when fishing from platforms and tight swims on commercial fisheries when the shorter length will also help bring the fish closer in for swifter netting. This superbly powerful rod is capable of long range casting with feeders up to 3 oz (85g). With the right technique, distances approaching 80m can be achieved with remarkable accuracy. Many other distance feeder models end up unbalanced and over-gunned, and in some cases look more like beach casters than feeder rods! As a result, they lose tactile contact and feel when playing fish and result in more hook-pulls. Working with five times World Champion Alan Scotthorne and top international match anglers Steve Hemingray, Darren Davies and England Feeder Team Manager Dean Barlow, we have extensively field tested and modified various Acolyte Distance Feeder prototypes in the UK and Ireland. The finished model successfully combines the normal feeder rod requirements of bite detection, sensitivity, fish playing feel and balance with ultra long range casting. It also represents fantastic value for money compared to other models, some of which are more than twice the price! Optimum mono reel lines are 6lb to 10lb (2.7kg to 4.5kg) or 0.08 to 0.12mm braid. The oversized guides help with the use of shock leaders to gain the required distance. The rod is supplied with 3oz, 4oz and 5oz carbon tips, which are also available separately with 2.5oz test curves.
