Guru has reworked its pole elastic range from the ground up. The new Impulse series brings two elastics, Impulse Hybrid Elastic and Impulse Hollow Elastic, covering everything from fine fishing for small fish to heavy setups for F1 and carp on commercial fisheries. Alongside them, the range also includes the Guru Groundbait Whisk, a drill whisk that cuts groundbait mixing down to a minute. All three items are available right now in our web shop.
Impulse Hybrid Elastic – solid elastic with hollow-style stretch
Hybrid is a solid elastic made from silicone-impregnated latex. The idea is simple: keep the control and power of solid elastic, while adding the stretch normally only found in hollow elastic. In the fight, this means the elastic follows the fish smoothly instead of jolting or “snatching” under load, which is the most common reason for losing fish on fine hooklengths.
The silicone treatment is applied at the factory, so you do not need to lubricate the elastic before first use. It comes in a 5 metre pack, enough for two 2,4 m top kits or three 1,8 m top kits.
Nine diameters in 0,2 mm increments cover everything from small silverfish to big carp:

Impulse Hollow Elastic – hollow elastic with a liquid core
Hollow is also made from silicone-impregnated latex, but with a sealed core filled with liquid. Classic hollow elastic can “flatten” under load, catch inside the top kit and work in surges. The liquid core eliminates this: the elastic stretches smoothly and progressively from the first centimetre to the end of the fight, without sudden transitions that can open the hook hold.
Because of that smooth action, Hollow is the choice for waters where fish power hard under the pole tip and the hooklength is fine. The pack size is the same, 5 metres, enough for two 2,4 m top kits or three 1,8 m top kits.

Hybrid or Hollow – which should you choose?
- Hybrid if you want more control over the fish and more direct contact, for example when fishing down the edge or on pellets where the fish needs to be moved away from an obstacle quickly.
- Hollow if you fish finer hooklengths and want the softest, most progressive fight, especially on waters with bigger fish that power off hard.
- If in doubt, take the same grade in both versions and try them on the same water. The difference in behaviour is clear from the very first fish.
Guru Groundbait Whisk – lump-free groundbait in a minute
A stainless steel whisk that fits into a cordless drill and mixes groundbait, soil and clay. It breaks up lumps and distributes water evenly through the mix, so the groundbait works as intended, without dry pockets and without overly fine particles that break up on the bottom. The thick, oversized welds are built for everyday match mixing, not just one season.
